Item Name: Luciferin
Potassium 1g
Catalog ID: 10
Product Features:
D-luciferin: High Quality,>99%HPLC, in vivo tested,
manufactured in a GMP facility. L-luciferin
<0.5%, detected and quantified by chiral HPLC. Low dehydroluciferin levels.
K+-salt solubility in water is 50mg/mL. Recommended injection dose: 150 mg/kg IP (3mg for a 20g mouse)
Product Description:
D-luciferin is the substrate of Firefly luciferase. The
luciferase enzyme catalyzes the oxidization of D-luciferin to oxyluciferin in
the presence of ATP, Mg2+, and oxygen with production of a
yellow-green light, shifting to red light in vivo at 37oC. Since ATP
is required as a co-factor, luciferase can be used as an indicator of the
presence of energy or life and function as a life-death stain. D-luciferin is
also the substrate for clickbeetle red and clickbeetle green luciferase.
Today, luciferin is a common reagent used in the Life Science
in vivo Imaging arena. Luciferase labeled tumor cells, infectious disease,
stem cells, metabolic disease or T-lymphocytes are inoculated in research
animals (mouse and rat). Upon injection
of the substrate D-luciferin; disease and drug efficacy can be monitored
non-invasively in these life animals with CCD based scanner technique called in
vivo bioluminescence imaging.
Frequent in vitro uses of D-luciferin include ATP assays,
luciferase assays, inducible gene reporter assays, high throughput sequencing,
hygiene and environmental contamination assays.
Packaging:
Easy to reconstitute 50ml bottle under Argon gas.
Storage:
D-luciferin salt is best stored in an amber vial under argon
or nitrogen gas at -20oC for at least 1 year.
